Masato Uchida graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts where he studied with Tomojiro Ikenouchi, Akio Yashior and Akira Miyoshi in 1965, and continued his studies at the Paris Conservatoire working with André Jolivet, Simone Ple Caussade, and Henri Dutileux.
